Pregnancy Choices is now THE PREGNANCY AND PARENTING CENTER. This new name communicates their purpose clearly and concisely, and it declares itself to be the definitive place to go for pregnancy and parenting support.
John Knox provides a number of ministry opportunities to assist with the various programs of The Pregnancy and Parenting Center. We provide support with prayer and devotions via Zoom. Prayer shawls, baby blankets, and cards of encouragement are given in layette bags.
The Pregnancy and Parenting Center provides prevention. They have a team that goes into schools to speak on healthy lifestyles, relationship choices, and sexual risk avoidance and serve between 5,000-6,000 Stark County students per year.
The Pregnancy and Parenting Center provides intervention. Their Eva Women’s Clinic on Cleveland Ave provides free pregnancy testing, ultrasound and STD/STI screening and treatment. They even have their own nurse practitioner and have had 1,378 client visits in 2020. The Pregnancy and Parenting Center on 22nd St NW provides support such as diapers, formula, and cribs. They also host parenting classes, mom and dad groups, and one-on-one appointments for parenting education and mentorship and have had 3,819 client visits in 2020.
The Pregnancy and Parenting Center provides restoration. They provide biblically based studies on healing for abortion, adoption, sexual past, grief and sexual abuse. They had 131 clients in 2020 at their House of Hope here in Canton.
JKPC – Food Pantry
John Knox Presbyterian Church is a designated Food Pantry of Akron Canton Regional Food Bank and partner with the Stark Hunger Task Force to fight against hunger in and around the Jackson Township area. The need for food during the pandemic has increased over 200%. The demand will continue for some time.
The Food Pantry is available to residents of Jackson Township and North Canton and currently serves clients on the third Saturday of the month from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
